The North Carolina Lions have established a partnership with the Division of Emergency Management to ensure that individuals and families have access to the full range of state and federal programs available in the aftermath of a disaster.

Individual Assistance Program

National Threat Level

Through the Individual Assistance Program, the North Carolina Lions will provide disaster preparedness and assistance through outreach, assisting at recovery centers, canvassing communities, distributing educational materials, and preparing and distributing emergency preparedness kits.

Ken Kennedy, a FEMA Human Services Specialist, discusses disaster recovery programs with applicants at the Disaster Recovery Center in Rocky Mount. FEMA opened several Disaster Recovery Centers in the hardest hit areas of North Carolina, in the wake of Hurricane Floyd. Lions from across North Carolina will volunteer their time to work in Disaster Recovery Centers.

Lions International

To assist Lions in helping their communities following a nature-related disaster, Lions Clubs International will provide an emergency grant of up to $10,000 to affected districts in North Carolina. The funds are used for meeting immediate needs such as food, water, clothing and medical supplies.
